5th Grade Yearbook DVD

My daughter is graduating from elementary school this year. Her Visual Performing Arts teacher, Margaret Lim, is working on making a DVD yearbook for all 5th grade students and their families. I have been volunteering at the school working with the 90 students to help her film and edit this treasure.
Today I worked with another film maker & parent from the school, Nathan Friedkin. We used his camera, tripod and boom and interviewed 30 of the students. They had time to prepare what they wanted to say and it went pretty fast.

I really enjoyed working with Nathan. I have been seeing him at every school event over the years with his camera and tripod and at one time got to talk with him about film making. Our conversation really inspired me and helped me make the choice to go to film school 2 years ago. After working alongside him it dawned on me that I have come far in the last two years.

Friday we get to shoot some more interview footage at the school. The next step is to get all the media onto one hard drive ( along with some photos taken from another day) and start editing. Margaret Lim works with the Digital Media Academy and is well versed with Final Cut Pro. She has asked me to edit the piece and our aim is to get it finished by June 10. I already have some ideas of how to approach and organize the piece. I hope it all comes together. We shall see.
